⚡ Quick reference¶
- Baseline: instant Loom, better hunting, cheaper infantry by age, +bonus vs buildings, +10 pop Imperial, faster allied Barracks. UU Huskarl (pierce armor). UTs Anarchy, Perfusion.
- Requiem v294: starting age Feudal; kills-to-Castle 200; razes-to-vill 2. No Fortified Walls — get Stone Walls in Requiem.
- CBA role: anti-archer swarm. Polarizing pick.
- Post-vill: Huskarl/Champion/Spear flood + rams; exploit +bonus vs buildings for razes.
- Strong vs: archer stacks (Britons, Mayans, Vietnamese, Turks).
- Weak vs: Japanese, Byzantines, Teutons, Ethiopians, Celts, Slavs, Aztecs — any anti-infantry melee.
📜 Deep playbook¶
🏛️ Standard DE profile
- Civ bonuses:
- Infantry cost -35% starting in Feudal Age.
- Infantry +1 attack vs. buildings per Age (Feudal onward).
- Villagers +5 attack vs. Wild Boar; carry +15 food from boar.
- +10 population in Imperial Age.
- Loom researches instantly.
- Team bonus: Barracks work 20% faster.
- Unique units: Huskarl (Castle UU, anti-archer infantry, high pierce armor). Elite Huskarl. Also trainable from Barracks post-Perfusion.
- Unique techs:
- Castle Age: Anarchy — Huskarls can be trained at Barracks.
- Imperial Age: Perfusion — Barracks work 100% faster.
- Notable missing techs: no Stone Walls (huge), no Bombard Cannon, no Ring Archer Armor, no Plate Barding Armor. Have full Halb, full Champion, Siege Ram, Siege Onager? — Goths lack SO. They have Onager.
- Walls: Palisade only in standard DE (no Stone, no Fortified). Requiem v294 grants Goths Stone Walls (still no Fortified upgrade).
🏰 CBA REQUIEM v294 profile

- Starting age: Feudal (Requiem v294 start table).
- Spawn unit: Huskarl (Elite once unlocked). Some CBA versions co-spawn Champion — not listed in the v294 wiki table — ask in the Requiem Discord for v294.
- Spawn interval / cap: 7 s per Castle; cap 90.
- Kills to Castle / Imperial: 200 (Castle) / 500 (Imperial).
- Razes to first villagers: 2.
- Free starting tech: +4 melee attack; Squires; Silver unique tech enabled in Imperial Age — Anarchy and Perfusion are candidates; some CBA versions pre-grant both.
- Silver-UT unlock: not listed in the v294 wiki table — ask in the Requiem Discord.
- Available buildings after villagers: standard whitelist; Requiem v294 grants Stone Walls to Goths (DE Goths lack Stone and Fortified Walls).
CBA role & archetype
- Primary role: Swarm / raze. Huskarl is fast, cheap, and anti-archer. Perfect for wave-attack raze plays.
- Secondary role: anti-Arb civ shield.
🌅 Opening play (minute 0–3)
- Position on a flank with an Arb-heavy enemy (Britons, Ethiopians, Mayans). Huskarl eats Arbs.
- Set spawn short but wide — Huskarls swarm in numbers, not clumps.
- Patrol in wide skirmish arcs — spread the swarm so Onagers can't chain-hit.
- Take fights: any archer clump, wounded units, house razes.
- Refuse fights: mass Camel, mass Skirm (Huskarl has weak base attack), mass Cataphract, mass Onager.
⚔️ Kill accumulation strategy
- Safe kill farm: Britons (Arb feed), Mayans (Plume feed), Ethiopian Arbs, Vietnamese Rattans (Huskarl pierce armor is high), Chinese CKN.
- Avoid feeding: Camel civs, Byzantines, Frank Paladin (Huskarl loses to raw HP).
- Anti-caging: v294 grants Stone Walls — wall in stone (no Fortified upgrade) and back it with Huskarl density. Never allow enemy Rams to reach TC.
🏚️ Raze allocation
- 1-raze priority high. Once you have villagers, spam Barracks with Perfusion and swarm.
👷 Post-villager composition
- Wall order: Stone Walls first (granted in Requiem v294; no Fortified upgrade), then palisade layers if the map allows. Back everything with Huskarl density.
- Standard build: 5 Barracks minimum (Perfusion makes this scale insanely), 1 Range (Skirm), 1 Stable (Light Cav for cleanup), 1 Siege Workshop (Ram).
- Imperial composition: Huskarl + Halberdier + Champion + Siege Ram + Onager. This is the classic "flood" comp.
- Silver-UT priority: Perfusion first if not pre-granted (5-Barracks Huskarl flood is the win condition). Anarchy is baseline.
⚖️ Strong against / Weak against
- Strong vs: Britons, Mayans, Ethiopians, Vietnamese, Chinese (with volume), Koreans (with volume).
- Weak vs: Gurjaras, Hindustanis, Berbers, Byzantines (Camel + Cataphract), Franks (Paladin), Persians (Elephants), Malians (Farimba Cav + Gbeto).
🤝 Team synergies
- Best partners: Britons (feed Arb-vs-Huskarl mirror doesn't apply, but Britons Arb kills what Huskarl can't), Persians (tank + swarm), Franks (dive + swarm).
- Conflict: pairing with another swarm civ (Vikings, Aztecs) creates a fragile front with no tank.
🎮 Key micro rules
- Never stop moving — swarms die when stationary.
- Palisade in 3 layers; you have no stone.
- Perfusion Barracks flood is the win — always have 5+ Barracks in Imperial.
- Focus enemy Rams first — your Stone Walls lack the Fortified upgrade and fall fast.
- Do not fight Camels; retreat and re-swarm from another angle.
Common mistakes: forgetting that Requiem v294 grants Goths Stone Walls (use them, but don't expect Fortified durability); overbuilding Castles (you want Barracks); researching Anarchy but not Perfusion.
🔒 Version-locked (Requiem v294)
- Requiem v294 grants Stone Walls to Goths (standard DE Goths lack Stone and Fortified Walls) — confirmed for v294; this applies to all no-fortified-wall civs.
- Huskarl-at-Barracks (Anarchy) is DE-standard.
